Bus 14, a company specializing in transporting students to schools, has signed an agreement with Jadeed for Climate Technology, which specializes in reducing carbon emissions from car engines, to use technology that lowers fuel consumption in its vehicles.
Under the agreement, Jadeed will install devices on the vehicles’ engines to reduce fuel consumption and consequently decrease emissions.
Mohamed Bakir, CEO of Bus 14, said the company plans to begin implementing its plans this quarter in the cities where it operates. They aim to install this technology in around 400 vehicles by the end of next year.
He explained that the two companies intend to launch their partnership in Saudi Arabia next year, after they joined forces with a Saudi partner who will act as the exclusive agent for this collaboration there.
He added that Bus 14 did not raise its fees for this service. Instead, it is an added benefit offered to drivers upon signing a contract to lower their costs by reducing fuel consumption.
Bus 14 specializes in transporting school students through a mobile app that allows parents to track and see their children throughout the trip for peace of mind, either through an annual contract or monthly installments.
Ahmed Tarek, CEO of Jadeed for Climate Technology, stated that the partnership aims to reduce emissions from car engines by around 75% and lower fuel consumption by 20–40%.
He noted that the company also aims to extend engine lifespans by about 30% and spare parts’ lifespans by about 80%. He added that the partnership plans to expand into Yemen next year, following Saudi Arabia.
Tarek mentioned that Dar Ventures, the startup accelerator affiliated with Dar Engineering, came on board as an investor in Jadeed via a stake in the company’s funding round, which sought to raise USD 1 million. However, he did not disclose the accelerator’s exact stake, adding that negotiations with other investors are ongoing to complete the round.
Jadeed plans to expand in Africa through Kenya next year and further across the Middle East. It also aims to export to Europe, especially after closing its funding round.
The company offers several solutions that reduce carbon dioxide emissions, such as advanced hydrogen cells that convert water into hydrogen, and the “Green Turbo” hydrogen cell, designed to produce hydrogen gas. This design saves about 70% compared to conventional hydrogen cells and reduces manufacturing costs by 50–70%.
Jadeed’s team invented a device that generates hydrogen and feeds it into the internal combustion chamber of an engine running on fossil fuels (diesel, gasoline, or natural gas) to achieve higher efficiency and reduce fuel consumption in vehicles.
